For this trek, I walked a mile on Prospect Avenue to the snowmobile trail near the town garage and headed up toward Joe Pond. With 2 or 3 inches of new snow (just 50 miles away they received 2 feet!), the hiking proved to be good exercise. It's a gift to be able to walk out a side door and be in the woods in a matter of minutes. I need to plan a longer hike this winter when the trails out back are well packed from snow machines. I'll head all the way up to Joe Pond. Bailey will love this one.
