Kathy & Jim Bennett, Blue Trail Connector
There's nothing better than being on a mountain trail with friends on the first day of the new year... especially this new year. Bailey and I hiked with long-time friends Kathy and Jim Bennett along the trails of Rumford's Whitecap Mt. With a dusting of snow covering ice patches, the footing proved tricky, but we managed the near-four mile hike without incident. No summit today, but we sure did enjoy the woods, streams, ice-covered falls, and catch-up conversations. During the two-hour hike on the Yellow, Blue, and Orange trails, we met a slew of hikers--a few former students and a couple of hiking friends that I often see on the trails of western Maine... and of course dogs dogs dogs.

Happy New Year. Maria and I settled for a 3mile trek at Stump Pass followed by a dip in the Gulf by Maria. I watched and had myorming coffee.
